In this episode of the Counterfeit Systems Series, I share a raw and honest conversation with a friend who admitted, “Raquel, I’m not sure I can open my heart to God again. Religion has caused me too much trauma.” Her words reflect what many are silently wrestling with—painful experiences in the name of God that leave us limping away, unsure if we can ever return.
But as we unpack Joseph’s story, we see that trauma and disappointment don’t have to have the final say. Joseph endured betrayal, slavery, false accusations, and years of waiting. Yet through it all, he held onto humility, forgiveness, and trust in God’s timing. His life shows us that even when we aren’t in control, God’s sovereignty is at work.

Many believers know God through the lens of religion, but still feel like something’s missing. Success feels incomplete when our life’s purpose isn’t connected to the One who created us. And it’s not enough to know that God loves us — we need to understand the depth of why.
In this episode of The Life Budget Podcast, I share how God healed me from anxiety and showed me His love in a way that changed everything. That miracle became the foundation for me to know Him, not just through religion, but as my Creator.
Together, we’ll look at key scriptures (Genesis 1:1, John 1:1–4, Isaiah 40:28, Revelation 4:11) that reveal God’s nature and role as Creator, and how seeing Him through this perspective unlocks clarity about our own purpose as created beings.

1. Define Success God's Way:Reflect on how you currently define success in your wealth, health, and relationships.→ Is your definition shaped more by God’s Word or by culture’s standards?Identify Misalignment & Barriers:
2. Take inventory of your life.→ Where do you sense misalignment between God’s promises and your lived experience?→ What emotional, social, or cultural beliefs might be creating roadblocks to the abundance God desires for you?
3. Unlearn Limiting Beliefs:Ask God to reveal any thoughts or behaviors you need to release.→ What negative patterns have you accepted as truth that may be rooted in trauma, tradition, or systemic norms?Honor the Journey:→ What signs of growth can you celebrate right now, even if you haven’t “arrived”?→ Where do you need to show yourself more grace and patience in the process?
4. Testify in the Tension:→ What part of your journey could encourage someone else—even if it’s still unfolding?
